Wayne Rooney was officially unveiled as an Everton player this afternoon.

Manchester United and England's record goalscorer completed an emotional return to his boyhood club on Sunday.

Rooney's return comes 13 years after he left Goodison Park to join United.

It has already been confirmed he will wear the No.10 shirt for Everton, trading with Manchester United-bound Romelu Lukaku.

Rooney trained alongside his new teammates at Finch Farm on Monday and was presented to the press this afternoon at Goodison.

The Toffees will also unveil their away kit for the 2017/18 season this afternoon

Keep up to date with all the key pointers from the unveiling.

That's your lot

Wayne Rooney and Ronald Koeman have ended their press conference.

Plenty to discuss but Rooney looks very determined after returning to his boyhood club.

Koeman also seems delighted to have got his man.

Will it work out?

On Aaron Lennon's return to training

I was really pleased to have Aaron back.

He had a difficult time at the end of last season.

It is a good time to start and get the fitness back.

We have good players back - Coleman and Bolasie will come back and add to the competition.

On Barkley's future

It is a nice question for the next press conference.

I don’t speak about other things than the presentation of Wayne.

Next time.

Return to England set-up?

I am not focused on it.

I am focused on doing well for Everton.

If I am doing that then Gareth will have a decision to make.

Hopefully my performances are good enough for Everton that he won’t be able to ignore me.

Frustration at United role

I have played for my whole career . It was frustrating.

It was the first time in my career that I haven’t but I needed to play.

I was captain of Manchester United and I had to keep myself positive around the place.

Some people will accept playing every few weeks but I couldn’t.

Does Rooney mark start of new Everton?

Koeman is delighted to have Rooney back at Goodison.

He feels he will have a big impact on the club’s youngsters.

It is vital for the club.

We have some excellent youngsters who can learn from Wayne.

We have made some signings of different ages but we missed a player like Wayne with that experience.

We had a great striker in Romelu last season. Next on the list was somebody with four or five but that’s not enough.

I prefer to have several players scoring 10-15 goals.

Other options this summer?

There was other options there.

Once I knew Ronald wanted to bring me back, it was the only place I was going to play.

Had it gone stale at United?

It hadn’t gone stale but I needed to play more games.

I didn’t play that often last season and I need to do that to be at my best.

It was the right time for me to leave and play somewhere else.

Did Rooney always think he would return?

You never know in football.

I never thought about it that much, to be honest.

Speaking to Ronald and the discussions we had, I knew it was where I needed to be.

I was at the FA Cup final in 1995 but to win a trophy as a player would be incredible.

On first game back at Goodison

It will be an emotional day.

When you’re back on the pitch, you need to focus on the game.

My family are delighted to see me back in a blue shirt again.

My dad is a huge Evertonian, he has gone up to watch me for 13 years in Manchester.

Now, he will have a five minute drive!

Top four challenge?

It is still too soon to talk about top four.

Everybody is trying to get the best players, all the clubs in the big six.

It is a signal to everybody that we can put competition.

You cannot do it in one season. The first season was to get good results and play good football.

Now, we need to make the next step.

Pressure for next season?

I have worked in football for a long time and I have not had one season without any pressure.

To win titles, you need to deal with pressure.

As managers, you have to win.

The signings we brought in was to make the team stronger and fight for trophies.

Is it a sentimental move from Koeman?

When we spoke, it was about the ambition and he was desperate to come back.

He showed me in the meeting that he likes the pressure and is used to that.

Some players need the pressure to get the best out of themselves.

He is still young for football.

On Old Trafford return

I am going there with Everton to win for Everton.

Football moves on.

I had some great times there but times change.

We need to make sure we get pre-season right to be ready for the opening fixtures.

Point to prove?

I always play with a point to prove.

I want to win - I’m not coming to a retirement home.

I feel good - not fit at the minute - but that will build up in the next few weeks.

On pyjamas comment

It’s what I have done with the kids.

My eldest lad, who knows about football, is an Evertonian.

He is delighted I’m back

Ambition for next season

Everybody knows it was a big reason that I signed from Southampton last year.

The club is showing that ambition.

It is exciting for the football club and it is up to the players and manager to show how strong we are.

On Lukaku exit

It was one of the challenges and we knew that.

He took the right decision and let’s hope it works out for him.

I like him and I like the player.

How many more?

We are doing good business.

You will see in the next few weeks what more we will do.

The next press conference you will get the right answer.

Giroud and Sigurdsson?

I won’t discuss any names.

Koeman asked why he re-signed Rooney

We want to win trophies and we have a lot of players without that feeling.

That experience to win titles is one of the reasons we wanted to bring Wayne back.

Expected position

That is something you will have to wait and see.

The big thing was coming back here to play.

The manager will assess the training sessions and make his decision.

Koeman on Rooney position

We spoke about getting more productivity.

He is mainly a striker but he can play in other positions.

He can play as a No.10 or from the left.

Targets for next season

You want to do better than the previous year.

We want to keep pushing and bring trophies to this club.

The club are moving in the right direction.

Rooney is up first...

It feels great. I was excited this morning to go in and meet the lads.

It is an exciting time for myself and Everton Football Club.

We are moving forward and signing the right players.

He’s here.

Rooney and Koeman take a seat.

Stay tuned.

It would appear Ronald Koeman is waiting for his newest recruit to arrive.

It’s not like it’s Rooney’s OWN press conference he is late for.

Koeman is not one of the people you want to upset!

Rooney keeps us waiting

After waiting 13 years for Wayne Rooney’s return, Evertonians are having to wait just a bit longer for his official unveiling at Goodison Park.
Rooney was running late for the showpiece event in the People’s Club lounge at Goodison.
The striker was probably still signing autographs outside and posing for selfies and there is a considerable crowd waiting to greet him.

We will be hearing from Wayne Rooney and Ronald Koeman shortly.

Stay tuned for updates from Goodison Park.

Plenty for the pair to talk about.

Fans wait for Rooney

There are a lot of Everton fans outside Goodison Park.

There was uncertainty over how they’d react to Rooney’s homecoming.

But over the past 24 hours it is evident just how much it means to them.

One of the great stories of the season without a doubt.

The stage is set

We will be hearing from Rooney and Ronald Koeman around 3pm.

It will be interesting to hear from both after the move was confirmed yesterday.

Don’t forget, Everton’s away kit will also be unveiled at today’s press conference.

Fan view on Rooney return

When Wayne Rooney left for Manchester United on deadline day in August 2004, he broke the hearts of every Evertonian across the world.

On that sombre day, a little bit of all Toffees fans died, writes Joe Jennings, editor of the independent Everton fan site School of Science.

He was our boy wonder and a true Blue as his T-shirt had famously displayed. He had allowed us all to dream again after years of disillusionment and outright depression.

Rooney had offered Evertonians of all ages and generations something to latch on to.

A local lad, raised in our own academy, with astonishing ability.

More than anything or anyone, Wayne Rooney was the embodiment of all our hopes and dreams.

The street footballer that was destined for Goodison folklore. The lad who still ‘played out’ whilst playing for Everton and the Everton player with the Everton posters in his bedroom window.
