Wayne Rooney's time at Manchester United looks to be over as the Red Devils striker is close to securing a return to boyhood club Everton.

Whether it's as a permanent move or a loan remains to be seen, but a successful transfer would provide a huge boost to the Toffees' attack.

Last season, Everton scored 62 goals in the Premier League and Romelu Lukaku was responsible for just under half of that amount (25).

Ross Barkley was the Toffees' next largest contributor with 6.

Despite Rooney recording his lowest ever goalscoring tally for Manchester United last season, he would still be a better fit than any of Everton's secondary strikers from last term.
