Wayne Rooney 's party girl Laura Simpson has been slammed on social media after her appearance on This Morning.

The lettings agent received a grilling by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby over her night out with the Everton ace that ended with him in a police cell.

Rooney was subsequently charged with drink driving after being found behind the wheel of Laura's black VW Beetle near his home in Cheshire in the early hours of September 1.

England's all-time record goalscorer's marriage with his pregnant wife Coleen had been under scrutiny after Laura had been quoted as saying she "kissed and cuddled" the 31-year-old.

However, she has denied those claims and insisted the pair would not have had sex if they hadn't been stopped by police - while his wife was abroad on holiday with their three sons.

Laura's interview received a backlash on social media, with several users hitting out at the 29-year-old from Irlam, Greater Manchester.

One wrote: "OMG this interview with that girl who Wayne Rooney had a thing with is so painful to watch. She's clueless."

Returning from a holiday in Spain, Laura took to the This Morning sofa to tell the details of that eventful evening.

Laura said she had spoken to Coleen to 'clear her name' and that the situation had been "dealt with".

Revealing what she said to Coleen, she said: "Basically I asked her to give me a call. I’ve said everything I told you. I said nothing happened and that I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong apart from getting into the car. I wish it hadn’t happened but it was just impulse."

She denied saying that she would have had sex with Wayne if they hadn't been stopped by police and claimed she was just "going home".

Laura said: "For one I had a t-shirt on, a baggy t-shirt, for two I’ve not kissed and cuddled him. I think if that happened there would have been a lot more coverage of him as we were in a bar.

"I just feel like I’ve been thrown under the bus. With all the quotes that have been published, anything I say further is fuelling the fire really."

She added: "Basically to make sure what I’ve said in the paper isn’t actually what I’ve said. Things in the papers are very inaccurate.”

Laura admitted that she had been out with footballers in the past and was "obviously" aware of Wayne's status, but the incident has been "blown out of proportion".

"Basically we just got a cab, it's a bit of a whirlwind really, there was no conversation. We ended at the car after getting out of the cab," she revealed.

"I was a couple of drinks down. That wasn’t discussed what happened. I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.

"If it was just a general person I don’t think it would have been portrayed as this.

Clarifying what she meant, she added: "I meant any general married man, if it was anybody else it wouldn’t be an issue. It’s been blown out of proportion what was about to happen, or apparently going to happen."

Laura admitted the situation was "not ideal and not what anybody needs" with Coleen being pregnant - but claims she has no feelings towards Wayne.

She said: "Regret is a bit of a strong word for a situation where I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong. I can’t see much wrong with getting in a car. I regret the damage it’s caused."

Laura added: "I don’t know him to feel anything about him.

I don’t think he deserves…in my opinion I wouldn’t do that to my partner."

Laura has been thrust into the spotlight since the incident

Rooney took to the pitch for Everton on Saturday in his first game since he was arrested for drink-driving.

It has been reported that Laura modelled herself on Coleen Rooney for weeks before meeting her footballer husband on a boozy night out that ended with his arrest.

Laura has been accused of copying Coleen's look with designer handbags and oversized sunglasses.

She was also reportedly tracking Coleen on Twitter six weeks before the fateful night with Wayne, even retweeting the pregnant star's posts about going off on holiday.

The couple who are expecting their fourth child together have been said to be at breaking point after Wayne was caught at the wheel of Laura's car.

She even admitted the pair would have taken things further had Wayne not been stopped by police.
