The mum of Wayne Rooney 's party girl has laughed off claims she had a relationship with former Manchester United star Teddy Sheringham.

Laura Simpson has dominated the headlines since the Everton ace was caught behind the wheel of her VW Beetle after a boozy night out before being charged with drink driving.

The lettings agent claimed she "kissed and cuddled" England's all-time record goalscorer which has landed him in hot water with his pregnant wife Coleen.

And now Laura's mum, Lisa, 47, who lives in Spain, has denied allegations that she had a relationship with ex-England striker Sheringham.

A neighbour of the family is quoted as saying: "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

"Her mum went out with a footballer and it looks like that is what she wanted to."

But Laura's sister, Eden, hit back: "That is not true. That did not happen. But I will be telling my mum because that is funny."

She later added: "I've clarified with my mum and those rumours are not true.

"She's not happy whatsoever that her name is being slandered."

Mirror Sport have approached Teddy Sheringham's representatives for comment.
