Anthony Martial scored the only goal of the game as Manchester United recorded a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford.

The France international started the match on the bench, coming on in the 70th minute for Marcus Rashford, who was forced to make way.

And made his mark just ten minutes later, slotting past Hugo Lloris following a long ball from David De Gea headed on by Romelu Lukaku.

Martial's burst of pace was exactly what United needed - and the Spurs defence didn't - to make the difference in the dying embers.

Prior to being subbed on, Martial was seen in deep conversation with Mourinho, who appeared to be giving him instructions.

After the game, the former Monaco winger revealed his manager's plan.

"The manager told me to find the space," said Martial on Sky Sports. "I know Lukaku is good with his head. I found the space and I scored so I'm happy."

Jamie Redknapp also spoke about the conversation between the manager and player in the studio after the fixture.

He said: "[He would have been saying come on, be alive, make some opportunities, be brave."
