Jose Mourinho hit out at the Manchester United fans after they booed his decision to replace Marcus Rashford with Anthony Martial on the weekend.

Red Devils supporters wanted to see Romelu Lukaku, who was largely ineffective against Tottenham, make way instead of the young Englishman.

But Mourinho stuck to his guns, replacing Rashford with the France international.

And it paid off. Martial found the back of the net just ten minutes after coming on, and was assisted by his Belgian strike-partner.

As the referee called time on the fixture, Mourinho stared at a TV camera and gestured to his critics while holding a finger to his lips.

He later added: "Some people speak too much. Calm down, relax a little bit.

"Don't speak too much. It's speak speak speak. Relax. Don't be so excited, calm down. I like a lot of the performance independent of the result - and if the result was 0-0 if it was 1-1, my feelings with the players would be the same.

"I think they gave absolutely everything. Every ball was like the most important ball of their career."

Now it seems the majority of Manchester United fans, although slightly disappointed to see the Portuguese publicly call them out, let the issue slide.

But Mourinho hasn't. Ahead of the Red Devils' Champions League clash with Benfica on Tuesday, he wrote the following in his programme notes.

"I hope that you enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham."

And well, many Man United supporters are furious that he has again decided to take aim at them instead of moving on from the issue.
