Fans mobbed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he left the hotel to head to training for his first Manchester United training session.

The Swede linked up with his new United team-mates for the first time on Thursday after they returned from their pre-season tour of China.

Jose Mourinho is preparing his squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Galatasaray in Gothenburg.

Ibrahimovic has been enjoyed an extended holiday following his exploits with Sweden during Euro 2016 and missed the trip to Asia.

But he is back in Manchester and trained for the first time this week.

United skipper Wayne Rooney said earlier this week that he is relishing the prospect of linking up with Ibrahimovic, with Mourinho expected to pair the two in attack.

“I'm looking forward to it,” said Rooney.

“I think he's been one of the best strikers in world football over the last 10 years and he's always won trophies everywhere he has been.

“He's a huge character so I'm looking forward to getting back, training with him and hopefully forming a good partnership and being successful together.”

Ibrahimovic was given an extended break by Mourinho following Sweden's early exit from Euro 2016 on June 22, meaning the striker has been away from football for five weeks.

The 34-year-old arrived in Manchester on Sunday and has spent the past three days working on a fitness programme tailored for him before joining the first-team squad.

“The best suits are suits by measure,” said Mourinho. “You go for a size that fits you. Same for players. No two players are the same.

"The decision on Zlatan is the consequence of many hours of study. He was out [of the Euros] one match before the English guys. The body and mind is different.

“Players prepare in a different way. We're trying to do suits by measure and to be perfect for the person."

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Anthony Matrtial, Morgan Schneiderlin and Marouane Fellaini also returned to training on Thursday.
