Alexis Sanchez has dropped a clear hint he wants to quit Arsenal - but fears they will not let him join Manchester City.
Gunners star Sanchez admitted he has made up his mind on his future but confessed it will only become clear after the Confederations Cup.
Mirror Sport understands City are now the only club in for Sanchez because Bayern Munich have been scared off by his financial demands and a potential £50m fee.
But Arsenal are adamant that they will not sell to a Premier League rival even though Sanchez could run down the final year of his contract and leave on a free next summer.
Sanchez is worried that it will turn into an ugly saga and may even be forced to stay despite City boss Pep Guardiola being desperate to take him to the Etihad.
Arsenal have yet to receive a formal offer on Sanchez and insist that the 28-year-old has not told them he wants to leave. They have offered him a new deal worth in excess of £275,000-a-week.
When quizzed on his future while on international duty with Chile, Sanchez said: “Yes it's clear but I can't tell you. Right now I'm focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished I will see if I stay or if I go. I don't know."
Then, in response to a question about the chances of him remaining at Arsenal next season, Sanchez said: "I don't know. My future will be decided after the cup. I know what it is, but cannot say.”
It is a major headache for Arsenal and Spanish giants Barcelona have not given up on signing Gunners right back Hector Bellerin and remain very keen.
Barca have not set a deadline on any deal and they are still determined to try and lure Bellerin back to Spain and believe they have a strong chance.
