Luke Shaw's contract situation at Manchester United has four top Premier League clubs on red alert.

United have reportedly invoked a clause in the out-of-favour left-back's contract to extend his deal by another year until 2019.

But United could only be doing so to increase the transfer value on his head, as they look to recoup as much of the £28million fee they paid for him as they possibly can.

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City are all monitoring Shaw's situation as they consider a move going forward.

United are expected to listen to offers for Shaw in January.

Atletico Madrid are plotting to take Ander Herrera back to his homeland.

The Manchester United midfielder’s contract expires at Old Trafford next summer, and he has so far failed to agree terms over a new deal.

Herrera, 28, was an indispensable part of Jose Mourinho’s side last season, but has seen his role reduced following the arrival of Nemanja Matic.

Atletico are long-time admirers of the Basque, and are eyeing a replacement for captain Gabi, now 34, reports AS.

Herrera’s contract situation makes him an attractive proposition, with Atletico eligible to negotiate with the player in January.

A Manchester United scout was given a nasty shock on Wednesday when he turned up to watch Iceland v Czech Republic in Reykjavik, only to find that it was taking place in Qatar.

Reports in Iceland claim that the United scout - who was understood to have travelled from Denmark - arrived at the Laugardalsvollur national stadium to be met by bemused locals who told him that the game was going on 5,500 miles away at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha.

It isn't clear which player or players United had sent him to watch, but the Icelandic FA confirmed that the club had applied for accreditation for the match.

With no game to go to the scout was forced to find a hotel in Reykjavik, and then return home the next day.
