Arsenal have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The French striker is on Arsene Wenger's wishlist as he looks to strengthen his squad this summer after finishing fifth last term.

The Gunners have been told they will have to pay £60million for Lacazette, who scored 28 goals in Ligue 1 last term.

And Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has now claimed he would rather see the striker join rivals PSG than move to England.

"I am a businessman and a modern club president. Transfer money must be reinvested into French football, as I always did when we were at the peak of our powers," Aulas told France Football.

"I know Nasser Al-Khelaifi told Noel Le Graet [French Football Federation president] that he is not investing that much in French players because he thought other presidents looked badly upon it.

"I want him to know that if he makes an offer for Alexandre at least equal to that of the other clubs bidding for him, then Alex can go to Paris without problem.

"When transfer money is shared abroad, it strengthens our competitors instead."

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been tipped to make a move for Lacazette this summer.

PSG are not though to be in the running but they have been linked with Torino striker Andrea Belotti.

United are keen on the Italian striker but are prioritising a move for Alvaro Morata.
