Arsenal will reportedly face competition from Newcastle for midfield target Miguel Almiron.

The Paraguay international has attracted a growing band of admirers after impressing for MLS side Atlanta United, scoring nine times in 30 games.

And Italian outlet Calciomercato report that the Premier League duo, plus Inter Milan are all after the 23-year-old.

Almiron could be available for £15million and made his full international debut for Paraguay in 2015 after an impressive showing in the 2013 Under-23 World Cup.

Arsenal secured their spot in the knockout stages of the Europa League after a dour 0-0 draw with Red Star Belgrade.

Arsene Wenger again rang the changes for this one but the Gunners second-string were a long way off their best.

They had young goalkeeper Matt Macey to thank for not losing the encounter too as he made a fine flying stop during the first-half.

Cologne's victory over BATE ensured Arsenal's progression with Wenger now given the chance to rotate even further.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes Jose Mourinho could guide his former club to the Premier League title.

The Gunners haven't finished top of the pile since 2004 and missed out on the top four last season.

Mourinho meanwhile has won the title three times since then and is eyeing another success with Manchester United.

The Red Devils boss has been criticised over his tactics this term but Merson insists he is simply a winning manager.
