Arsenal's attempts to land Raheem Sterling from Manchester City aren't over, apparently.

And reports claim it will be as part of a renewed ploy to get the best value out of Alexis Sanchez's departure.

The Daily Mail claims the Gunners are willing to try again after failing to make the same switch happen in the summer.

Sanchez's contract is up at the end of the season, when he could be able to leave on a free transfer, so to get ny money out of the move a January sale will have to take place.

Arsenal moving on from Thomas Lemar transfer interest

Arsenal are ready to walk away from a deal for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who had a deadline day £90million bid turned down for Lemar in August, was hopeful of landing the France star next summer.

But Arsenal now fear the French champions' demands, as well as growing interest in the forward from Champions League clubs, is making a deal impossible.

Liverpool and Barcelona are also eyeing the 22-year-old, whose representatives know they can demand a bigger contract as the chase hots up.

Monaco are likely to sell at the end of the season.

Vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admitted they will offload him a year on from the mass departures which saw Kylian Mbappe, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva all leave in the same window.

Alex Iwobi nutmegs Javier Mascherano before clinching shock win for Nigeria over Argentina

Arsenal's Alexi Iwobi embarrassed Barcelona star Javier Mascherano with a nutmeg at the top of the box before clinching a famous 4-2 win for Nigeria over Argentina.

Iwobi's second goal of the match completed an upset against a side that although missing Lionel Messi was not short of star power on neutral turf in Russia.

Receiving the ball at the top of the box, Iwobi made fools of the Argentine defence, slotting the ball between Mascherano's legs before dispatching the ball in the corner.

Sevilla's Ever Banega scored the opener for Argentina just before the half-hour mark before Sergio Aguero finished off a neat team move nine minutes later.

Nigeria refused to back down and pegged one back before the break through a curling free-kick from Leicester's former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

Brown Idowu bagged a third and Iwobi finished the job.
