Arsenal are tracking Brazil under-17 star Alan Guimaraes and hope to beat out Manchester United and Liverpool for the Palmeiras star.

The Premier League giants could all miss out though as Spanish newspaper AS believe Real Madrid have a 'verbal agreement' with the player's agent.

Alan impressed in the South American under-17 championship with the Selecao winning the tournament unbeaten.

Alan has continued his rise by flourishing in India at the under-17 World Cup and the Gunners may now be forced to pay his €50m release clause to beat out the competition.

Mesut Ozil proved he's back to his best with "superb" Everton display, declares Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger heaped praise on Mesut Ozil, after the German playmaker’s outstanding return to the Arsenal starting XI, writes Mirror Football's Alex Richards.

The World Cup winner started for the first time with both Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez, and produced a mesmeric display as the Gunners ran riot at Goodison Park.

Ozil created more chances in the 5-2 win than any other player has managed in a Premier League game this season - while also scoring Arsenal’s crucial go-ahead goal when the scores were level.

The 28-year-old’s future at the Emirates remains in doubt, with his contract set to expire next summer.

But Wenger has maintained that provided Ozil remains committed he will continue to be picked, and was delighted to see him at something like his best on Merseyside.

"He was superb. Agile, quick, intelligent - always at the service of the team with the quality of his passing,” declared Wenger post-game.

"When he is at that level he is an exceptional football player.”

Everton shirt sponsors forced to delete tweet 'celebrating' Arsenal's 5-2 victory over Blues

Everton fans were already feeling down after their side lost 5-2 at home to Arsenal on Sunday , so they probably didn't need this, as written by Mirror Football's Jake Polden.

Because just minutes after the Blues had lost the game, the club's main shirt sponsor sent a tweet seemingly celebrating the Gunners' victory and wishing Arsene Wenger a happy birthday.

It was swiftly deleted, but not before fans spotted it.

SportPesa - a gambling firm based in Kenya - became Everton's main shirt sponsor in May, signing a five-year deal.

Everton's shirt also features the computer game Angry Birds as their sleeve sponsor.
