Arsenal are ready to go up against Inter Milan in the race for Paraguay international midfielder Miguel Almiron.

That is according to Calciomercato, who say the Gunners and Inter could go head to head to try and lure the 23-year-old from Atalnta United in the MLS.

Almiron predominantly plays as an attacking midfielder but can also operate on either flank.

He is a regular for Paraguay and his form Stateside has seen the heads of some of Europe's top sides be turned.

Arsenal have been dealt a big injury blow after Shkodran Mustafi limped out of Germany's World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.

The Gunners defender went off with what looked like a thigh injury and was helped from the pitch by medical staff.

Mustafi was running alongside Ramil Sheydaev when he pulled up, with the Azerbaijan player then twisting and turning past Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger to score a famous goal against the world champions in Kaiserslautern.

He will now likely undergo scans on his return to north London and, dependent on a tear, could potentially miss months of action.

Arsene Wenger will not be involved in the appointment of his successor at Arsenal.

The Gunners boss ended months of speculation over his future when he signed a two-year deal in the summer.

Wenger is now in his 22nd season in charge and has been tipped to move into the boardroom when he finally retires and be involved in finding his replacement.

But he insists that decision will be down to the board as they move into a new era.

"I don't know who will replace me at Arsenal," he told beIN Sports.
