Arsene Wenger could delve into the transfer market in January if Arsenal's injury crisis doesn't improve.

The Gunners received another fitness blow after it was revealed Francis Coquelin is facing a lengthy spell out of the team after sustaining a knee injury in the defeat at West Brom on Saturday.

The club are in the process of conducting tests on Coquelin but they suspect he has ligament damage and Wenger confirmed he will be out for a minimum of two months.

Wenger said: “I’ll do what’s needed in January even though in January it is not an ideal transfer market.”

Also on the treatment table and unavailable for Tuesday's crunch Champions League encounter with Dinamo Zagreb are six more players.

Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Mikel Arteta are all sidelined.

Wenger admitted he may have to use Calum Chambers as a makeshift midfielder in place of Coquelin against Dinamo Zagreb.

“We have players that can play in [Coquelin’s] position," Wenger added. "Chambers has been educated in that position.”

Aaron Ramsey did return to training at Colney on Monday but it is unclear whether he will be in the squad for the match due to a lack of preparation.

"He has had just one training session with the team but I have not yet decided [whether he will play]," Wenger said.
