Arsenal fans will surely breath a sigh of relief when the transfer sagas starring Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are resolved.

Both players' contracts expire at the end of the season and the last chance for the Gunners to get any value from their departure comes in the January transfer window.

While Sanchez has had his own suitors, including Manchester City after the failed summer move, Ozil is being linked to a return to Spain.

The Sun claim he is a chance of returning to Spain, not back to Real but their cross city rivals Atletico.

The paper claims Diego Simeone may be able to lure the German with a deal worth about £200,000-a-week, well short of the £330,0000 he apparently wants from the Gunners.

Arsenal fans are furious referee Mike Dean has been appointed for the north London derby against Tottenham

Arsenal fans are frustrated by the appointment of Mike Dean as referee for the north London derby against Tottenham on Saturday.

The 49-year-old has flirted with controversy throughout his career, and is known to flash red cards (he brandished five last season, more than any other referee in the Premier League) and award penalties quicker than most in the game.

This could be extremely bad news for Arsenal, who have already conceded two penalties this season - both of which were converted.

What's more, Gunners' goalkeeper Petr Cech has yet to save a penalty in Arsenal colours since joining the club back in 2015.

Not only that but he has only managed to dive the right way on three of these occasions, meaning Arsenal will have to be very careful in the box on Saturday.

Tottenham are yet to concede a penalty this season, but they have had a player sent off in Serge Aurier. Like Arsenal, they'll need to be on their best behaviour.

Tensions are expected to be high for the game, which Arsenal would have traditionally been favourites for, ahead of the last two seasons.

And with Dean in the middle, you can expect some sort of drama... even if it's not the kind you were expecting. Here's what Gunners fans have made of it.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez pays emotional visit to local hospital in hometown in Chile

Alexis Sanchez made the most of the international break to visit patients at a local hospital in his home town of Tocopilla.

Sanchez was given a few days off with the rest of the Arsenal squad and jumped on a plane to Chile's capital of Santiago.

Sanchez spent the first day with close friends in Santiago before flying 783 miles north to visit family members in Tocopilla where he grew up.

Sanchez and his partner, Chilean actress Mayte Rodriguez, surprised everyone by turning up at the city hospital to spend an afternoon visiting several wards, happily chatting and taking selfies with the bed stricken inpatients.

He uploaded several photos to his social media account, including a short video accompanied by James Blunt's smash hit You're Beautiful.

He posted the video with the message: "Everything you do will leave a mark on others. Try to do everything with heart and the trail will be beautiful. Love to Tocopilla!"

Sanchez who signed for Arsenal in July 2014, looked set to leave the Emirates for Manchester City in the summer.

The two clubs agreed a fee but Sanchez stayed put, although this appears certain to be his last season with the club.
