Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has talked down speculation linking his Nou Camp team-mate Samuel Umtiti with a move to Manchester United.
Reports suggested that the Frenchman feels undervalued by the La Liga leaders and is the subject of interest from the Red Devils.
But Pique has quickly moved to dampen any speculation regarding his team-mate and says he expects the 24-year-old to remain at the club.
“I’m not worried about what clubs might or might not do,” said Pique.
“Umtiti is a great player and we expect him to stay at Barca for many more years and for him to enjoy his football with us.
“To an extent, the buyout clause is made high so that you can’t buy the player.
“As time goes by, that fee doesn’t seem so high at all, but the player still has to want to leave.
“We’re very happy with Umtiti and I’m sure he’s going to stay here for a very long time.”
Barca are currently top of La Liga, nine points ahead of Atletico Madrid in second and 16 points better off than bitter rivals Real Madrid in fourth.
