Barcelona will "fight" to sign Philippe Coutinho until the last minute of the transfer window and will go back again with a fresh bid after Liverpool refused to sell for £90 million.

The Blaugrana have been persistently told that the Brazilian is not for sale at any price, but the Telegraph believe the Catalan club are determined to get their man.

“The fight goes on,” a source from the report said.

Catalan television had reported that general manager Pep Segura said a deal was “close," but those have been dismissed.

The player is determined to leave Anfield but may have to relent on his wish with a World Cup next summer and the need to play first team football.

Barcelona are facing an uphill battle to sign Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho because he does not have a release clause, the club's sporting director Robert Fernandez has admitted.

Jurgen Klopp is braced for a third bid for the 25-year-old after the Reds have previously rejected £72million and £90million offers from the Catalans, report the Liverpool Echo .

Liverpool are digging their heels in over the Brazilian though and remain adamant they will not sell him this summer, despite the fact he submitted a transfer request last week.

This comes after Barca general manager Pep Segura was quoted as saying the La Liga side were "close" to securing a deal, but Fernandez was less optimistic as he spoke about a “very difficult situation”.
