Slaven Bilic has insisted Manuel Lanzini will stay at West Ham and earn a new contract.

The Argentina midfielder has been linked with a potential move to Liverpool to replace Philippe Coutinho.

Lanzini, who first moved to East London on loan in 2015, has become a big hit with Hammers fans since the departure of Dimitri Payet.

He made his full international debut under new coach Jorge Sampaoli this summer but missed last weekend's opening Premier League defeat at Old Trafford with a leg injury.

But Bilic said: “Manu is very happy. He feels at home here. He feels wanted. You can feel it, you can see it. You don't have to speak to the player but if you do speak to him, you can see how he is married here, how he is happy.

"He broke into the national team of Argentina. He is still out. He got a call-up for September games. So he knows if he plays here, if he has a good season for West Ham, he has a chance to improve, to sign a better contract for West Ham and to play for Argentina. He is very happy here.

“I am sure he is going to stay with us. He knows he is wanted. He knows the chairman and the board, he was on loan and we took an option even before we had to. We activated it with him. He was wanted. The Player's Player of the Year. It is a good thing also, it makes him feel really wanted. He likes it here.”
