Burnley and Crystal Palace are locked in a £8million fight for Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic.

The Premier League pair are keen to tempt the Bosnian from the north of the border this month.

Simunovic has fallen out of favour at Parkhead to alert Burnley boss Sean Dyche, who is a big fan of the powerful centre-back.

Palace are also interested in Simunovic, 23, as they look to find a replacement for long-term injury victim Scott Dann.

Ghana international defender Daniel Opare, who plays in Germany for Augsberg, is also on Roy Hodgson’s wish-list.

Palace face competition with Opare attracting intent from fellow top-flight clubs including Everton, Stoke and Swansea.

Palace, meanwhile, will make a renewed bid for Everton’s Oumar Niasse this month.

The Senegalese international has been involved for The Toffees this term, after a move to Selhurst Park collapsed on deadline day last summer.

Now with Everton landing Turkish ace Cenk Tosun, they are set to allow Niasse to leave.

The striker earned himself a reprieve at Goodison Park following a similar temporary switch to Hull City last season.

Eagles’ boss Roy Hodgson is also talking to James McArthur about a new deal.

The Scotland international has impressed with The Eagles since Hodgson took charge, but he has been targeted by other clubs with West Bromwich Albion, Burnley and Watford all keen.

However, the 30-year-old is settled in South London and is ready to commit to fresh terms with the Eagles if he can thrash out a new contract with the club.
