Crystal Palace have completed the permanent signing of Mamdou Sakho from Liverpool after the defender put pen to paper on a four-year contract.

Former Paris Saint-Germain captain Sakho joins the Premier League side for an undisclosed fee, understood to be in the region of £26million. He will be paid £120,000-a-week.

The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park and said after signing last night that he could not wait to test himself again.

“I am really happy to be here because I have some friends here," said Sakho. "I loved the challenge last year; it was difficult but beautiful and it’s why this summer I thought that Palace was the best choice.

“I am really excited about playing for the Palace fans again, but in football the past is the past and you need to think about today and tomorrow.

"Last year we did a good job and we need to prove that again and have a good objective. If we put all of our power together, we will have a great season.”

Sakho played 80 times for Liverpool during his four years at the club.
