Ronald Koeman has captured Wayne Rooney – and Gylfi Sigurdsson will be the next into Goodison Park.
The Dutchman has landed one massive coup by securing the signature of Manchester United's striker and now his summer recruitment is hitting overdrive.
While Everton fans have eagerly awaited the home-coming of former England skipper Rooney – a two-year deal should be confirmed over the next 24 hours – Koeman will land another significant target this week.
A deal is believed to have been struck at £30m with the Toffees prepared to offer the Icelandic international a £135,000-a-week contract to seal the deal.
Rooney's return signalled that the Merseysiders – with Europa League football on their agenda this week – are serious about challenging the top four.
But news that Sigurdsson will be the latest addition to their squad-list will offset any angst that Romelu Lukaku is moving to pastures new.
Koeman has worked cleverly in the marketplace this summer. He has signed a replacement for the Belgian international in Sandro Ramirez from Malaga.
He has also ensured that his club will not be held over a barrel over Ross Barkley's future. Ajax skipper Davy Klaassen was an early recruit.
A £55m splurge on English youngsters Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane – along with Sigurdsson's arrival – will take Koeman's spending this summer beyond £125m.
Even though that is likely to be offset against the £75m the club will receive for Lukaku, it still represents a serious statement of intent by owner Farhad Moshiri.
