Arsenal's hopes of signing Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri could depend on the future of pantomime villain Samir Nasri, report football.london.

The 30-year-old was labelled a 'traitor' by fans when he left north London for Manchester City back in 2011 for a fee of around £25m after three years in red and white.

The Frenchman is searching for a new club this summer, and the Mail report that Ligue 1 side Nice are leading the chase for his signature.

That move could open up space for Seri to head to Arsenal.

The Gunners have been tracking Seri all season and are said to be waiting for the French club to learn their Champions League fate before pouncing for the midfielder.

The 26-year-old has been linked with moves to Spurs, Everton and Barcelona, but Arsenal are thought to be leading the race for his signature.

And Nice appear to be planning for life without Seri already, as they consider a bid for Nasri, who Manchester City value at about £10m.
