Mesut Ozil and and Alexis Sanchez's contracts are expiring at the end of the season and Arsenal will likely face pressure to cash in on at least one during the January window.

Manchester City will return for Sanchez in the new year while Ozil has also also been attracting interest.

Inter Milan's chairman Erik Thohir confirmed the club's interest in the playmaker last week, saying: "He [Ozil] is definitely one of those players we are looking at."

And now the Serie A club's sporting director has also been quizzed about a possible January move.

Piero Ausilio, speaking prior to Inter’s 2-1 win over Benevento on Sunday confirmed they would look to strengthen in January but was not optimistic about the chances of signing Ozil.

“We are studying our squad, we have scouts everywhere and they look at every kind of player,” he told Premium Sport. “I don’t think players like him [Ozil] will be leaving in January.

“Luciano Spalletti knows this team has room from improvement, that’s what we are working on.

“A new centre-back? We are looking for new opportunities but we have D’Ambrosio and other Primavera team players.”
