Jose Mourinho has criticised Everton boss Ronald Koeman for talking about taking Memphis Depay on loan.

Manchester United winger Memphis has been told he can go out on loan in January, with Koeman keen to bring his Dutch compatriot to Goodison Park.

But Mourinho was angered by Koeman's comments about Memphis and accused the Everton boss of a lack of respect by talking publicly about one of his United squad.

"I prefer not to make [such comments]," said Mourinho.

"I think my normal answer is if somebody asks me about a player from another team, my answer is the player is not my player.

"The player belongs to another team, the player belongs to another manager, no comments at all. I think that is the ethical answer, when we are always worried about ethics, respect and rules.

"I just say that if it was me making those comments about an Everton player, I would be in trouble."
