Jose Mourinho is willing to let David De Gea finally join Real Madrid - if he gets Raphael Varane in return.

That is according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, who say the Special One will allow De Gea to complete his dream move to the Spanish capital should he be able to sign the centre-half.

De Gea almost joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2015 only for the transfer to fall through at the 11th hour.

But Real are still keen on him, and De Gea has started the season in stellar form for the Red Devils, keeping 11 clean sheets in 15 appearances in all competitions.

Besiktas confirm they are attempting to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini

Besiktas have confirmed their desire to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Despite recent praise from manager Jose Mourinho, Fellaini has been linked with the Old Trafford exit.

The Belgian international's current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, leaving him free to speak to European clubs in January.

And now Besiktas official Metin Albayrak has admitted that the Turkish champions have made an approach for Fellaini as one potential signing.

Speaking to Turkish-Football, Albayrak said: "Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him but not just him.

"He is not the only player we scouted, our scouting team watched 20 games live this week.

"We are keeping tabs on several players."

Chris Smalling sends warning to Manchester United teammates over title chances

Manchester United cannot afford any more slip-ups in the title race, according to defender Chris Smalling.

Jose Mourinho's side slipped eight points behind leaders Manchester City following Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

United have lost two of their last three Premier League matches, with Smalling admitting they must beat Newcastle in their first game back following the international break.

"It's unfortunate there's now an international break but we’ll have to regroup and in our next game make sure we put on a performance to rectify this,” said Smalling.

“I think it’s about us getting back to Old Trafford for that game and put on a performance that the fans can be proud of.

"The result was frustrating because we put in so much effort and I think we controlled large parts of the game.

“We put them on the back foot in the first-half, we just needed to take one of the chances when we had the momentum.

“We also put Chelsea under some pressure in the last 20 minutes and I thought we deserved a goal.”
