Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has played down fresh reports linking Philippe Coutinho with a January move to Barcelona.

Suggestions from Spain reckoned the La Liga leaders will once more move to land the Brazilian when the transfer window opens next month.

Coutinho was the subject of a number of transfer offers in the summer, but Liverpool stood firm.

The Reds also rejected a transfer request as their playmaker’s head was turned by a move to Catalunya.

But Coutinho has since knuckled down and shone in the 5-1 win over Brighton at the weekend.

However, when asked whether he could be certain that Coutinho would stay at Liverpool in January, Klopp insisted it isn’t something he is even thinking about.

"I haven’t thought about it for one second,” said the German.

"I am not sure, I am not unsure. I have a team to prepare for tomorrow."

Klopp also paid tribute to Coutinho’s goal at the Amex on Saturday, which saw Coutinho mischievously send a free kick under a jumping wall, and into the back of the net.

“You practice free-kicks with different walls - they have wheels but cannot jump,” added the Reds’ boss.

"We are always as well prepared as possible for something like this. [But] they still need to have the courage to do it because if they don’t jump, it doesn’t look great.

"It was fantastic!"
