Italian giants Juventus are keen on a move for Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi in January.

That is according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, who say the Old Lady have identified the Gunners centre-half as a target in the winter window.

Mustafi has had a mixed season in Arsenal colours so far this term and is currently nursing a knock suffered in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger is understood to want to retain Mustafi's services at least until the end of the season, but Juve could move in January with Benedikt Howedes facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Arsene Wenger has admitted his Arsenal stars queried his tactical plan for last weekend’s defeat to Manchester United.

Arsenal were beaten 3-1 at home last Saturday evening, and are now FIFTEEN points behind leaders Manchester City ahead of Sunday’s trip to Southampton.

In a training-ground inquest into that United setback, Wenger admitted opinions differed as to why the Gunners lost the game.

Arsene Wenger has become the latest manager to hit out at the Premier League over the lack of recovery time between matches.

The Arsenal Gunners boss is fuming that Arsenal will face Southampton on Sunday at midday - just 62 hours after demolishing Bate Borisov 6-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Although Wenger is set to change his entire line-up for the weekend, he remains frustrated at the quick turnaround.

“I have nothing against the fact that we have to do that, as long as our opponents have the same recovery days.

“That was not the case last week [against Manchester United] and will not be the case again. Between three days and five days is a big gap on the recovery side. If we have to play every day I don’t mind as long as our opponents do as well.”
