Liverpool have received a huge boost in their bid to keep hold of Emre Can after Juventus ruled out making any signings in January.

The Old Lady have been linked with a swoop for the German, but director Beppe Marotta says the Bianconeri will not be using their chequebook in the winter window.

He told Rai 2: "We will not sign anybody in January. We are currently achieving our objectives in the Champions League, where we have a hard group."

Can's current deal at Anfield expires at the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp claims Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has changed his game at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has proved he can cope with the demands of playing for the Liverpool boss.

The former Arsenal midfielder had made just one start in his first two months at Liverpool following his £35million deadline day switch.

But the 24-year-old has started Liverpool's last two games, scoring in Saturday's 4-1 win at West Ham, with Klopp praising the way he has adapted to his new challenge.

"It was very intense for him, completely different to the things that he's used to," said Klopp .

"He did really well. I know for these offensive skilled players how difficult it is for them to have me all the time shouting.

"In the first-half at West Ham, when he was on the other side, it wasn't good for my voice.

Jurgen Klopp explains the role Liverpool's backroom team played in signing Mohamed Salah

Jurgen Klopp has admitted it was his backroom staff that persuaded him to sign Mohamed Salah over the summer, report the Liverpool Echo.

The Egyptian has been a revelation since his £36.9m switch from Roma in June, scoring 12 goals in his first 17 appearances for the Reds. His brace helped Klopp's side to a 4-1 win at West Ham on Saturday.

And after the game Klopp paid tribute to the 25-year-old, and revealed how his signing was very much a collective effort.

“We watched Salah so often, saw him so often,” he said. “The scouting department was really behind me, and wanted to do it even earlier so that nobody could jump in!

“We were sure he can help us. Michael Edwards, Dave Fallows and Barry [Hunter], they were really in my ear and were on it: ‘Come on, come on, Mo Salah, he’s the solution!'

“When you have 20 players on the table, different players, it’s difficult to make an early decision, but we all were convinced about it so could make the early decision so we could really get him. He’s a fantastic person, a nice lad and a really good football player.”
