Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen to sign a new first choice goalkeeper but his plans have run into problems.

The European champions would need to sell current No.1 Keylor Navas before bringing in a big name but are having problems offloading him.

Navas has reportedly told the club he will not accept a pay cut and no suitor is willing to match his current salary.

Spanish publication Diario Gol reports that Perez has given up on Navas leaving before the end of his contract, which is in June 2020.

This situation means Real Madrid are extremely unlikely to move for Manchester Untied No.1 David De Gea.

Instead, Perez is said to be eyeing a move for Athletic Bilbao's young goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who would cost in the region of €20million (£17.4million).

Kepa would compete with Navaz but would not require the initial outlay or sizeable salary that De Gea would.
