Liverpool are plotting a shock move for Manchester City midfielder David Silva.

The Spaniard has 18 months remaining on his current deal at the Etihad and is hopeful of an extension.

But Liverpool are also keen and believe they can offer improved terms for the 31-year-old, reports the Sun.

Silva has been with City since 2010 and has been excellent in their rise to the top of the Premier League.

Can Liverpool lure him to Anfield, and what would that mean for Philippe Coutinho?

Sadio Mane believes he and Mo Salah have no problems handling the pressure for Liverpool - because they do it so often for their countries.

The speedy pair combined for the first of the four goals that left West Ham in crisis and Liverpool back in business as far as the title race is concerned.

Salah, who has 12 goals this season, inspired Egypt to clinch a place at the World Cup Finals for the first time in nearly 30 years last month.

Now Liverpool fans will hold their collective breath as Mane, facing back to back games against South Africa, tries to do the same for Senegal.

The two fleet-footed wingers are set to spur each other to great heights this season. Mane may only have three goals in a campaign hit by injury and suspension. But with £34.5million Salah alongside him there is little doubt that his tally will reach double figures.
