Liverpool have no interest in a player-plus-cash deal for Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian remains a target for Barcelona this summer after having a £72million bid rejected.

Reports in Spain earlier this week suggested Jurgen Klopp would be willing to strike a deal - if Rafinha or Andre Gomes was included.

But Liverpool are not interested in either player as they are not viewed as an upgrade on any member of the current squad, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool insist there will be no cash plus player transaction for Coutinho.

Senior Anfield officials are adamant that there simply isn't a deal to be done for Coutinho this summer.

A second bid for the 25-year-old has yet to be tabled – despite claims that Barca had upped their offer to €100million (£89million).

Klopp has reiterated Coutinho isn't for sale and the owners have reassured him that stance won't change.

After the win over Bayern Munich he added: "I can understand that Coutinho is so highly rated, but they can save their energy."

Liverpool are in a strong position considering that Coutinho's contract runs until 2022 and he has no release clause.
