Manchester United will reportedly consider a move for Mauricio Pochettino if Jose Mourinho quits Old Trafford.

Mourinho has been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain hotseat and has spoken fondly of the French giants.

PSG head coach Unai Emery has reportedly been warned his job is under threat if they fail to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

However, the Sunday Express claim PSG's mega-rich owners are also pondering a move for Spurs boss Pochettino.

The Argentine has earned rave reviews for his work with the north Londoners, who have already put Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid to the sword to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.

Mourinho watches Sweden beat Italy

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was in attendance in Stockholm on Friday evening as Victor Lindelof and Matteo Darmian played on opposite sides in the first leg of the World Cup qualifier between Sweden and Italy.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was also in attendance as his countrymen took a one-goal advantage into the second leg.

Jakob Johansson's strike, via a Daniele de Rossi deflection, has left the Italians with it all to do in their bid to avoid mossing out on a first World Cup since 1958.

Darmian, who has played just three times in the Premier League this term, came closest to equalising for the visitors, striking the post.

Mourinho wants United to prove they value him

Jose Mourinho is expecting Manchester United to show how much they value him amid interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, report the Manchester Evening News.

The Portuguese coach knows the option of a move to Paris Saint-Germain has strengthened his hand ahead of contract negotiations - and wants executive vice chairman Ed Woodward to come up with an offer in-keeping with his status as one of the world’s super coaches.

Mourinho’s long-term future is the subject of increasing speculation, which he has done little to quell.

With 18 months to run on his current deal - and an option of a further year - there is no cause for panic at United yet. But the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager’s status is threatening to become a distraction.
