Manchester United are ready to offer Danny Rose an escape route out of Tottenham .
Jose Mourinho will target the England left-back for a January switch to Old Trafford after Rose was left out of the squad for Saturday's north London derby defeat at Arsenal.
United are ready to pay £40million for the 27-year-old – and also offer Luke Shaw as a makeweight.
Rose, who has just returned to fitness after being sidelined for 10 weeks with a knee injury, was not included in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans as Spurs’ title hopes were hit by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of their arch rivals.
Tottenham insist there has not been a bust-up between player and manager.
And former Spurs star Jamie Redknapp claims it is only a matter of time before Rose leaves, and says other clubs may have already “tapped him up”.
“I don’t think it’s going to end well, from a Spurs point of view,” said Redknapp, a pundit at the derby.
“I’m sure that Danny has probably been tapped up by other clubs because he’s one of the best left-backs around.”
United would double Rose’s wages of £65,000-a-week wages and finance the January deal by getting rid of £30m flop Shaw.
