Manchester United are ready to hand Ander Herrera a new deal - but could trigger a 12-month extension should a deal not be reached soon.

That is according to the Telegraph, who say, while there is a will from both sides to thrash out fresh terms, United had hoped to have tied up a deal by now.

Herrera's current contract expires next summer and he would be free to talk to foreign clubs in January if he does not extend his stay.

United are also keen on extending Marouane Fellaini's contract.

“For the moment I think so, but everybody's still there,” said De Bruyne.

“It's so early. If you lose two or three games you go back to a [lower] position. We have to maintain this hopefully.”
