Manchester United have received a boost in the race to sign Juventus star Alex Sandro as Chelsea have dropped their interest.

The Blues failed with several bids for the Brazilian last summer, with the Old Lady demanding £53m.

Jose Mourinho is dissatisfied with his left-back options this season and may now step up the club's interest to land Sandro, report calciomercato.com.

The form of Marcos Alonso appears to have convinced Chelsea that signings in other areas should be a greater priority this month.

The battle between the clubs for the former Porto star is just another layer to a simmering rivalry between Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Jose Mourinho 'blames Old Trafford BALL BOYS' for Manchester United's poor home form

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has sensationally claimed the Red Devils' ball boys are partly to blame for the Red Devils' home form, according to reports.

United needed 84 minutes before they finally broke down Derby on Friday evening in the FA Cup third round with a Jesse Lingard stunner.

They hadn't won on home turf since beating Bournemouth 1-0 on December 13, drawing successive Premier League games at the Theatre of Dreams against Burnley (2-2) and Southampton (0-0).

Mourinho is unhappy at the speed his ball boys have been returning the ball.
