Manchester United have scouted Valencia defender Ezequiel Garay, according to reports in Spain.

Super Deporte say the Red Devils watched centre-half Garay as he helped Valencia keep a clean sheet at the Mestalla in a 1-0 win over Las Palmas on Friday evening.

Tottenham were apparently also present, while Juventus and Benfica have been linked with a move for the 30-year-old's services.

Garay has been linked with United on multiple occasions over the years, but any potential switch has never materialised.

Jose Mourinho briefly worked with Garay at Real Madrid, and it is understood United would have to part with around £24million to secure the player's services.

Mourinho has already added to his backline this summer, signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
