Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to land Lucas Moura from Paris St Germain in this month's transfer window.

United boss Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Brazilian Moura, who has fallen out of favour at PSG this season, making just six appearances.

A loan deal for Moura was mooted, but PSG are now said to be willing to accept a fee of £25million for the winger who Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign for United in 2012.

Mourinho wants to add an attacking wide player in this window, with Moura, 25, fitting the bill, while the United boss remains in the hunt for a new left-back.

Tottenham's Danny Rose was Mourinho's first-choice target for that role, but United have been put off by Spurs' £50m valuation, with Celtic's Kieran Tierney and Sandro of Juventus having emerged as alternative options.

Moura will be hoping a January move will boost his chances of winning a place in Tite's Brazil squad for this summer's World Cup, after he won just three caps over the past four years.
