Lucas Moura was left out of Paris Saint-Germain's squad once again on Wednesday evening as speculation surrounding a potential switch to Manchester United gathers pace.
The 25-year-old has now missed successive cup games against Rennes and Amiens and only featured on the bench against Cannes in their last Ligue 1 fixture, report the Manchester Evening News.
Moura has played just six times for the French club this season and not started a game since May.
PSG signed Neymar for £198million in the summer and brought in Kylian Mbappe on a season-long loan from Monaco to bolster their attack. PSG are obliged to pay Monaco £166m for Mbappe next year.
United manager Jose Mourinho recently name checked Moura as one of four PSG forwards marginalised by Neymar and Mbappe, although two of them - Angel di Maria and Julian Draxler - started against Amiens with Neymar and Mbappe in the starting XI.
"What Paris Saint Germain did this season with Neymar and Mbappe, they get two of probably the four best attacking players in the word - they get two at the same time," Mourinho said.
"And then players like Di Maria, Draxler, [Javier] Pastore, Lucas, they are second choices. Money makes a difference."
Sir Alex Ferguson and then-United chief executive David Gill initially offered Moura's former club Sao Paulo £24m in 2012 before they upped their offer to £35m. However, PSG gazumped United and Moura moved to the Ligue 1 club.
"Right towards the end of my time at United we were pursuing Lucas Moura, the immensely talented right winger who, at the time, was playing in his native Brazil for Sao Paulo," Ferguson wrote in his 2015 book Leading.
"We offered £24million for him, which was upped to £30m and again to £35m, but Paris Saint-Germain signed him for £45m. David and I were just not prepared to go to those sorts of levels."
Moura travelled to Qatar with his PSG teammates for their winter training camp last month.
