Manchester United will turn their attention to an experienced centre-back following the capture of Paul Pogba, according to the Sunday Times.

United are believed to be targeting the capture of either Ezequiel Garay, Jose Fonte or Leonardo Bonucci before the summer is out.

Jose Mourinho reportedly has concerns that Chris Smalling, 26, is United's most experienced centre-back and he is looking for world class reinforcement.

Bonucci is also wanted by Manchester City, so would require negotiating if they are to complete that deal.

Bonucci also remains as a potential signing (

However,Garay and Fonte are also reportedly high on the list of targets and could be the favourable options, to avoid a bidding war.

United could pay over £40million to land a defender of such stature.

West Ham want to loan Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The 19-year-old defender could answer the crying call for cover from the Hammers after being told that he can leave Old Trafford on a temporary basis.

West Ham are looking for a new left-back after Aaron Cresswell injured his knee and ruled himself out for the first half of next season.

Borthwick-Jackson impressed with United after making his debut last season - and they will only authorise a loan if they know their man will be played regularly.

Adnan Januzaj has told Manchester United that he wants to leave the club permanently, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old fell out of favour at United under Louis van Gaal and has shown no sign of forcing his way into Jose Mourinho's thinking for the new season.

Januzaj is believed to be keen on starting his career afresh at a different club following a difficult couple of years.

David Moyes is planning a double raid on Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj , writes Mirror Football's Steve Bates.

The new Sunderland boss would like to sign both in a permanent deal but that would cost in excess of £45million, with Fellaini valued by United at around £20m and at least £25m for winger Januzaj.

That’s too pricey for the Black Cats, who spent around £20m in the January window to help secure their Premier League status under former boss Sam Allardyce.

Moyes fancies a permanent reunion with Belgium midfield star Fellaini after buying him in a £28m deal from Everton at the start of his ill-fated, 10-month reign at United.

Debutant Zlatan Ibrahimovic inevitably stole the show, however, finding the net with an acrobatic overhead just four minutes into the game.

But Manchester United fans' celebrations were cut short when Sinan Gumus equalised with a header from a set piece.

Things then got worse for Jose Mourinho's side when they went 2-1 down just before half-time after Bruma produced a neat finish.

Wholesale changes were made at half-time with the likes of Rashford replacing Ibrahimovic - and it only took United 10 minutes to draw level through Wayne Rooney.

The United captain then took his side into the lead three minutes later after converting from the spot. Rashford's excellent run earning the penalty.

An excellent Fellaini header added to Red Devils' tally, before a sliding finish from Mata made it five.

Jose Mourinho has warned his Manchester United stars they have to get used to "squad life," writes Mirror Football's Steve Bates.

After using 22 players in the 5-2 win over Galatasaray in Gothenburg Mourinho admitted he needs every one of his stars to step up when they are called on.

“Of course Marcus Rashford did well tonight and Ibra showed glimpses of what he can bring," Mourinho said. "But Fellaini and Schneiderlin have trained for two days and I prefer that they are on the pitch.

"If they were not in my plans I would not give them one single minute. We are going to play 60 matches. You cannot do it with 11 players.

"To be in the squad you have to understand the squad is more important than the individual. You have to be ready. Everything is part of the squad life.

But teenage striker Rashford made an electrifying second half contribution to set up Rooney to make it 2-2 then win a penalty which Rooney converted to give United a 3-2 lead.

Said the United skipper: "Marcus was outstanding. His movement was great and he causes problems with his pace. He played really well when he came on and contributed with some of the goal.

"He will be a real asset for us this season."
