Atletico Madrid are planning for Antoine Griezmann's departure from the club, according to reports.

Manchester United want to sign Griezmann in the summer and Squawka say Atleti have lined up Monaco's Thomas Lemar, 21, as his replacement.

The Spanish club are currently under a transfer embargo until 2018 but will appeal Fifa's ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Griezmann recently admitted it would be "awesome" to play alongside Paul Pogba at club level and United could break their own world transfer record to sign the 25-year-old.

"I always ask Paul Pogba about Manchester United," Griezmann told Sky in Germany earlier in November. "I think they are a huge club with a really good infrastructure.

"I ask Paul about some of the players, and if they're really that good, or if Jose Mourinho is really that good.

"You hear a lot of things [speculation] about Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but right now I don't see me moving to a new club. But it would be awesome to play alongside Paul one day."

United 4-0 Feyenoord: 5 things we learned

Wayne Rooney answered his critics by netting to edge closer to Sir Bobby Charlton's Manchester United goalscoring record.

Rooney lashed out at his detractors on Saturday for savaging him over his boozing on England duty and insisted he wasn't finished.

And he proved that as he bagged his record-breaking 39th European goal for United and his 248th in total to leave him just one behind Sir Bobby.

It was a terrific goal and he made it by bursting down the left from inside his own half before exchanging passes with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and dinking the ball over Feyenoord goalkeeper Brad Jones.

Rooney played an instrumental role in the second goal, teeing the ball up for Juan Mata to confirm the victory.

And it only seemed to open the floodgates, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic's cross was diverted home by goalkeeper Brad Jones before Jesse Lingard curled home in stoppage time.

Victory puts United within touching distance of the last 32 of the Europa League and they need just a point in their last game away to Zorya Luhansk to make sure.

Mirror Football's David Anderson was at the game. Here are five things he learned.

Mourinho pleased with dominant display

Jose Mourinho was delighted after watching his Manchester United team stroll to an emphatic 4-0 win over Feyenoord in the Europa League, writes Thomas Bristow.

The Manchester United boss had recently branded the team as the unluckiest in the league after fine performances failed to translate into results.

But Mourinho was pleased that this time Old Trafford saw a scoreline worthy of the dominance.

"I think it was a similar performance to other performances we've had at home," said Mourinho.

"We were dominant, we controlled the game from the first minute to the last - this time we scored goals."

Rooney: There are more goals to come

Wayne Rooney insists he has plenty more goals left in him after answering his critics in stunning fashion.

Rooney netted in a 4-0 Europa League thrashing of Feyenoord to become Manchester United's record marksman in Europe with 39 goals, and sit just one short of Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time record of 249.

The 31-year-old was hurt by the flak he has taken in the past week for late-night drinking on England duty and is delighted to become the Reds’ record scorer in continental competitions.

“It’s a great feeling to score goals and to score goals for this club,” said skipper Rooney. “I’m pleased and I’m sure there is plenty more to come. I’m happy with the win first of all, but also the goal.”

Scholes urges United to sign Griezmann

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has revealed who his ideal striker would be to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, writes Thomas Bristow.

While Scholes thinks the 35-year-old should stay another year, he reckons Zlatan will be used less often next season and another striker should be brought in for the longer term.

And the Red Devils legend believes that signing should be Atletico Madrid and France striker Antoine Griezmann.

At 25 years old, the Frenchman would be at his peak by the time Zlatan left Old Trafford - an exciting thought for a player who has already established himself on the world's biggest stage.

The France international has scored an impressive 50 goals in 85 La Liga appearances for the Spanish outfit.

Speaking on BT Sport prior to Manchester United's Europa League tie against Feyenoord, Scholes said: "I think Griezmann would be up there. He looks a top centre forward at Atletico and I think we have to be in the market for someone like that."
