Antoine Griezmann's expected summer arrival at Old Trafford will reportedly spell the end of Anthony Martial's flagging Manchester United career.

United are expected to trigger Griezmann's €100m (£86.4m) Atletico Madrid release clause in the summer, but Jose Mourinho must first offload a number of first team stars to free up funds for the Frenchman.

The Independent say Martial will be sold along with Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young, with Marouane Fellaini another potential departure.

Martial's relationship with Mourinho appears to have broken down.

The 21-year-old, who was United's top scorer last season with 17 goals, has been in and out of the team this term and was an unused substitute in the midweek draw with Hull.

Nelson Semedo will reportedly move to Manchester United in a £35million deal at the end of the season.

Portuguese outlet Noticias Ao Minuto, cited by The Sun, say United have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of the speedy full-back in the summer.

Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Semedo in January but Benfica were determined to keep hold of him until the end of the season.

It is claimed that Semedo's arrival will likely signal the end of Matteo Darmian's Old Trafford career.

Mourinho: We must score more

Jose Mourinho has admitted Manchester United need to score more goals if they are to have any chance of clinching a top-four place, writes David McDonnell.

United have scored just 33 goals after 23 games this season, their second-worst return at this of the season in the Premier League era.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is their leading scorer with 14 goals in the league this term, with Juan Mata and Paul Pobga next in the list with four each.

United have the third-worst conversion rate in the Premier League this season, behind Hull and Southampton, with Mourinho acknowledging his side must plunder more goals.

“I understand what you are saying,” said Mourinho. “We attack so much and with so many players, and so many players have the freedom in our dynamic to reach scoring positions.

“I have to agree with you that we don’t score enough goals, and some of our players from these attacking creative positions they could – they should – score more goals."

Mourinho: Some of my players aren't mentally ready

Jose Mourinho claims some of his Manchester United players are not mentally strong enough to succeed at Old Trafford, writes David McDonnell.

United are stuck in sixth spot in the Premier League, with the title out of reach. And Mourinho, who is set for another big summer spending spree, conceded some of his squad have been in a comfort zone and are not natural winners like he is.

The United boss has been critical of Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling this season, and said some of his squad had been too “protected” under previous regimes.

“I didn’t know the players very well,” said Mourinho. “I didn’t know that some players need time to live with this (being a United player), because it must be part of your natural habitat.

“Play to win, responsibility to win, cope with the pressure to win. This is something that has to belong to your natural habitat. For some guys, it doesn’t.

“They also need that time to go out of their comfort zone or a zone where they are protected that we assume the objective is not to win - that also takes time."

The German was frozen out by manager Jose Mourinho at the start of the season but his hard work and professionalism has seen him work his way back into the first-team set-up.

He made his first start under Mourinho in the FA Cup win over Wigan at the weekend and now looks as though he will play a key role for United in the second half of the season after being included in United's European squad.

Goalkeeper Joel Pereira has also been added to the squad after he made his senior debut as a second-half substitute against Wigan.
