Matteo Darmian's agent has confirmed multiple Italian clubs have been in touch with regard signing the Manchester United defender.

Darmian has made just 11 appearances for the Red Devils this season, but his agent insists he is not for sale, report the Manchester Evening News.

In the absence of both the injured Antonio Valencia and the suspended Ashley Young against Everton, it was Victor Lindelof who deputised at right-back while Darmian was an unused sub.

He has been linked with a move back to his native Italy, with Roma and Juventus both said to be eyeing a move for the 28-year-old this month.

But Darmian’s agent Tullio Tinti insisted Roma were not one of the teams that have been in touch.

Tinti told Rete Sport: “I haven’t had any calls from Roma for the player.

“There has been contact with other Serie A teams, but not with the Giallorossi. For the moment the lad isn’t for sale.”

Italy's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup means there is less urgency for Darmian to seek more club minutes in the second half of the season, but United have Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah coming through who can both play at right-back.

Jose Mourinho is also targeting wide players in the summer which could leave Darmian surplus to requirements.
