Olivier Giroud admits he came close to leaving Arsenal in the summer due to a lack of game time.
The Gunners striker was linked with a move to Everton, West Ham and Marseille during the last transfer window.
However, the Frenchman performed a U-turn because he wanted to stay at the Emirates and fight for his place, despite the £52million signing of Alexandre Lacazette.
"I had the opportunity to leave. I was very close to another English club - Everton - but I think I made the best choice," Giroud told Canal.
"I have a lot of respect for Marseille, I was a fan for years. I also have a lot of respect for Lyon, who were also interested at one time. I didn't want to return to France.
"I'm happy in England, it's nothing against those clubs. But a return to France is possible one day."
