Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race for Philippe Coutinho as Los Blancos bid to rival Barcelona for the Brazilian's signature.

The Liverpool playmaker failed to force a switch to the Nou Camp in the summer despite handing in a transfer request.

Jurgen Klopp and the Anfield hierarchy stood firm in their insistence Coutinho would not be sold, but the midfielder is still keen on a move away from Merseyside.

And, according to Mundo Deportivo, he could have the choice of either side of the Clasico divide.

Real have apparently made contact with Liverpool to discuss Coutinho's situation, but would prefer to make their move next summer rather than in January.

That could force Barcelona's hand, but the Catalan giants know they will have to fork out €150million or more to secure Coutinho's services in the winter window.

Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation, but Coutinho's heart is still allegedly set on a switch to Barca.
