Roma remain hot on the heels of Riyad Mahrez as they continue to pressure Leicester to sell.

The Foxes have rejected multiple bids from the Serie A runners-up for their Algerian ace, who they value at £50million.

But 2016 PFA player of the year Mahrez, 26, is keen on the move and Roma's sporting director Monchi admitted the left-footer would be ideal.

Monchi said: “There is still a month left.

“For the way the team play, where the wide players tend to come inside, a left-footer would be better, but it could also be a right-footer with natural tendencies to come inside.

“I don’t know if Mahrez or somebody else will come but, whoever arrives, he will be a big player who is able to add quality to an already magnificent squad.

"A club like Roma, who can boast the calibre of players like (Lorenzo) Pellegrini, (Kevin) Strootman, (Radja) Nainggolan, (Edin) Dzeko, (Federico) Fazio or (Aleksandar) Kolarov, cannot think that their overall performance is going to depend on the arrival of just one specific right-winger.”

Leicester still hope to keep Mahrez but are likely to let £17m flop Ahmed Musa go.

Premier League rivals West Brom hope to take winger Musa on a season-long loan but want an option to buy.
