Tottenham are set to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona after beating off competition from West Ham .

The Portugal international will join on an initial loan with Spurs having the option to make it permanent.

The 24-year-old will hope to recapture his form ahead of next summer's World Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino will have the option of fielding a third centre-midfielder in Gomes, who can play box-to-box, something that will prove especially useful in the Champions League.
