Tottenham are in advanced talks with Ajax over Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez as they look to complete a £30m deal in the next 48 hours.

Sanchez, 21, did not play in Ajax’s defeat to Heracles on Saturday night as he was “not 100 per cent focused” according to the Dutch club.

Ajax have rejected a bid of £20m, they are holding out for £35m but Spurs are offering a string of add-ons and incentives in the hope of getting the deal done.

Sanchez can play at centre back and right back and is the versatile defender Mauricio Pochettino wants to bolster his options and his squad.

Tottenham could help pay for Sanchez - outstanding in the Europa League final against Manchester United - by selling Kevin Wimmer.

They are ready to listen to offers on Wimmer with Southampton leading the chase despite having an initial enquiry knocked back. Spurs want around £20m.
