Joao Mario will not be allowed to join Arsenal in a swap deal for Mesut Ozil, according to reports.

The Inter Milan midfielder has been touted as an option for the Gunners with Ozil looking increasingly likely to leave at the end of his contract.

Calciomercato report that Arsenal would consider a January trade between the two players to prevent Ozil leaving for free - but Inter are said not to be keen.

There have been no signs of progression in Ozil's contract talks with Emirates chiefs.

German World Cup winner Ozil, 28, is free to walk away from the club at the end of the season and is demanding around £300,000-a-week to stay on.
