West Ham are preparing a bid for long-term Arsenal target William Carvalho.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has long been tracked by the Gunners, but Portuguese outlet Record report that the 25-year-old now has the Hammers after him.

Slaven Bilic's side are said to be preparing a €30million (£25million) bid for the Portugal international.

However, that figures is shy of the star's €45million release clause.

This means the Hammers will have to drive a hard bargain with Carvalho's recently appointed agent Pere Guardiola - who is the brother of Manchester City manager Pep.

Carvalho made his international debut in 2013 and played in the 2014 World Cup before helping Portugal win Euro 2016, including playing 120 minutes in the win over France in extra-time the final.

West Brom, Everton and also Manchester City have also previously been linked with the midfielder.
